When The Wind Blows, new EP by Nomenklatür is out!

Mixing techno, electro-house and synthpop, on the 18th October Nomenklatür reveal their new EP “When The Wind Blows” on Clivage Music.

Mysterious, intense, bewitching… such is the definition of the new project from Nomenklatür. The French duo, who first garnered attention in 2009 on David Carretta’s Space Factory label, have navigated between techno, tech-house and synthpop over the years, while always remaining faithful to their collection of synthesisers from every era. On the When The Wind Blows EP, the two members of the project invite Franco-American  vocalist Odge to contribute, and her deep, ethereal voice is the perfect counterfoil for Nomenklatür’s sound.

Dark lyrics, production that is both raw and ethereal… The EP stands at the crossroads of electro-pop, techno and tech-house. The group’s eclectic influences include Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, The Chemical Brothers and Plastikman while also recognising both the legacy of the industrial electronic sounds of Berlin, and sci-fi films and novels.

Troubling, saturated and sensual, the EP’s eponymous track When The Wind Blows invites us into a strange, metallic world draped in saturated synth sounds, intertwining with the dreamlike vocals of Odge. With its bassline and worrying breathiness, After Life takes the EP in a different direction, mixing melancholy and hope.

My Something’s slow tech-house rhythm doesn’t eschew EBM basslines, despite its apparent feminine, elegant nonchalance. And rounding off the EP with its sole instrumental track, Satori is slow, woozy, progressive techno made to dance to. With this dark electronic project, Nomenklatür revisit a retro-futurist, mysterious aesthetic full of promise.
